Hi tribe, I hope you are well?
I have been busy lately, which means that I haven’t been as active in my blog posts, but I’m not going to apologise for it. I’ve learnt a valuable lesson these past couple of months – a lesson in self-care. Take this week for example, last Sunday my final assignment for the Trauma Informed Care Unit was due, following that, I had to navigate a family dinner for my brother’s birthday, then Tuesday and Wednesday I had late nights at work for parent/teacher conferences and Thursday after work, I had back to back appointments. I’ve learnt that sometimes, I need to prioritise and the first thing on top of my list of priorities needs to be myself. I don’t need to apologise for it, because an apology implies that I’ve done something wrong in putting my needs first and that certainly isn’t the case.
With that said, it’s difficult to believe we are almost in July. I know I say it every year, but this year seems to be travelling at super speed. I haven’t done a reading in a while, so I thought this was a fantastic time to see what July has in store for us.
4 of Wands
The first card I drew was the 4 of Wands. It’s a card of celebration, of enjoying a milestone event and celebrating with the people who love you and the people you love in return. Maybe you’ve been through a period of awakening, which has shifted into a major transition in your life? The 4 of Wands appears to remind you to take the time to celebrate your successes – no matter how small they seem to be. The road has been a difficult one, but now, it’s important to give yourself the time to integrate the lessons you’ve learnt along the way. You are not the person you were when you started the journey, you’re brighter and stronger and more authentic than you have ever been before.
For me, the 4 of Wands is a reminder to reach out to community, to show gratitude for those people who have stayed with me throughout the difficult journey and the major transitions in my life. Personally, I’ve felt a little disconnected from community as of late, but something that’s come up for me and I want to re-iterate for you, is the importance of reaching out. So, if there’s someone you feel disconnected from, someone you care about, send them a quick message, make a phone call, organise a catch up – reach out and reconnect. Life isn’t meant to be lived on our own.
The Tower
The Tower card is such a, beautiful card but it can also be a difficult one. The Tower is about unexpected change! Sometimes when we resist change, the Universe steps in and pulls the rug out from underneath your feet. It’s a deconstruction of sorts, that can feel a little like chaos – an unravelling that can leave you questioning your understanding of who you are and what you want in your life. When this happens, it can feel as if your beliefs are shifting or being challenged, as if everything is falling apart. But, you have everything you need within the rubble, to rebuild, realign and reevaluate. You have everything you need to build the foundations of something extraordinary. Trust in the Universe, trust in yourself and let go.
Something that I’m learning is that often it’s more painful to try and fight the unravelling, so there’s also an element of stepping down and allowing it to happen. Within those moments, it’s okay to meet yourself where you are, it’s okay to do what you need to do in order to get through and when you do get through the other side, you’ll find the proverbial light at the end of the tunnel. You’ll have a brand new set of skills to use. If you can, try to shift your perspective – things feel as if they are falling apart around you, and inside of you, but try to look at it as an opportunity – because after the unravelling, you get to build something beautiful from the rubble.
4 of Swords
4 of Swords indicates that it’s a time for deep rest and healing. It makes sense, given that we are currently in the midst of Winter. It marks a time of intentional rest, self-healing and care. The 4 of Swords reminds us that it’s okay to slow down and process, it’s okay to tend to our wounds and do what we need to do in order to heal them. Healing is a choice – it isn’t about whether you’re ready or not, the choice is in what you do to heal, how you choose to heal. This could look like meditation, journalling, or seeking more support for yourself. We don’t always need to be in perpetual motion. Instead, we need to give ourselves time to rest and rejuvenate, time to heal.
In drawing it all together, I find it interesting these three cards have come up together. They make for a powerful combination. It’s difficult for me not to superimpose where I’m at in my life with this reading – it wasn’t intended for me, it was intended for the collective. But, I feel as if it comes up now because it resonates with so many of us.
We are in the midst of an unravelling of sorts and it can be easy to feel as if everything is in chaos, as if it’s falling apart around us. We have spent far too long resisting change in our lives, so the Universe has pulled the rug out from underneath our feet. We need to balance that energy with connection and intentional rest, healing and self-care. It’s important to take time to connect to those that we love, and to those that love us. Connection brings in light, and it reminds us that we are not unravelling alone. It’s time to celebrate the small steps, those small wins that probably feel insignificant but are so very important. We also need to take the time to slow down, to allow ourselves to heal and to rest. In the unravelling, our wounds become clearer, and as they come up, it’s important to tend to them, to work towards healing them. Once we’ve made it through the other side – we are going to need all of our energy to realign and to rebuild something beautiful from the rubble.
