The week between Christmas and New Year is renowned for being a confused haze of left overs, losing track of the days, afternoon naps and not being really certain whether you are coming or going. Everyone experiences patches and periods of befuddlement over the course of the week. Nobody escapes. Personally, this week, I’ve had several “what day is it?” conversations but largely, I’ve been focused on moving towards 2025, setting my intentions and setting things into motion. Something that a mentor once told me has really stuck with me – you take a step towards what you want and the Universe will step to meet you. So, I’ve been taking steps and plans have been set in motion. I won’t share them with you yet, until things are more solid under my feet, but I am excited. I am looking forward to 2025.
What I will share is the process that I went through to find my path. I have been feeling the pressure to make a decision. I was presented with three options and neither of those options were bad decisions. There wasn’t one wrong decision amongst them. They are just very different paths. I was anxious and stressed about making a choice, because once I make a choice, I dive all in and fully commit to making it happen, which effectively closes off the others. My numbers in numerology define me as a creator and that is a mighty fine powerful position to be in. One that makes total sense, when I look back at the things that I have managed to achieve.
I don’t make a decision easily though, I find that my head and my heart are rarely on the same wave length. My head doesn’t have the map or the guidance that it needs to get me where it needs to go. That comes from my heart, my emotions, my feelings and my energetic body. Getting them to work together is sometimes challenging – if you favour one, or listen to one more than the other, you can end up going around in circles, like someone rowing a boat with only one paddle.
My point is, you have to involve both in the decision making process and encourage them to work together. The process I followed took some work, but I love the energy in the direction it’s pointing.
These were the steps I took to create my road map…
I stressed over having to make a decision – do I? don’t I? What if? How do I know? I made a decision, then I changed my mind. I doubted, I questioned. It was SO frustrating. I was entirely stuck in my head. The thing about your head – it will always do what it needs to do to protect you. And my head has strong protective instincts
Then, I spoke to a friend who gave me his advice – create a list of pros and cons for each path, leave it and come back to it 24 hours later to see which path feels right. After returning to my list of pros and cons. I felt a little like Goldilocks, but I had my answer. One of the paths felt heavy, one of the paths was full of potential, the other felt freeing, like I could breathe again. I meditated, and asked for guidance on whether it was the right path for me. What I visualised during that meditation confirmed it, and made my heart swell with excitement. All I had to do was give in, let go, give myself permission to follow it. Once that permission had fully sunk in, I began putting things in place to move towards it, because if you take a step, the Universe will take a step to meet you.
Yesterday, I listened to a Podcast from Mel Robbins titled, How to Make Next Year the Best Year: Ask Yourself These 7 Questions. The questions are designed to give you a set of directions for crafting your 2025. I came home from work last night and wrote seven pages, answering every single question. The questions are as follows…
- Describe the highlights from the past year of your life?
- What were some of the hardest parts this year?
- What have you learnt about yourself?
- What are you going to stop doing?
- What are you going to start doing?
- What are you going to continue doing?
- What can you do today to take that first step now that you have a set of directions?
It was powerful and I found clarity within my answers.
Finally, I took my answers and used them to craft my intentions for 2025. I’ve never been a big believer in New Years Resolutions – Resolutions only have temporary energy attached to them. We’ve all been there with the, ‘I’m going to lose weight by going to the gym and eating healthier,’ and we sign up, put in six weeks worth of effort at the gym all the while, our motivation is quickly on a slippery slope downwards into the pit of dead New Year’s Resolutions. Intentions have a frequency attached to them. Especially when you write them down and speak them aloud. I wrote mine twice, once for myself and once for my guides and the Universe, in the form of a letter, which I then took outside and read aloud.
Have you set your intentions for 2025, yet? It isn’t too late? I suggest you sit down and work your way through the 7 questions from Mel Robbins. I’ve never been one to look backwards, and see how far I’ve come. I’ve just been interested in putting my head down and marching forwards, but I see how important it is now. We study the past, so that we can take the experiences we’ve had, what we’ve learnt from those experiences and use them to shape the future. Use what you discover about your 2024, the little gems of wisdom, the learnings and the values that you uncover to help you craft your road map, your set of intentions for 2025.
Don’t hesitate to reach out on my Facebook page (Positive Pathways Coaching) if you need hand or if you just need someone to talk through the process with. I’m keen to hear about what you discover and how it helps you create your 2025 road map.
